Professor Joaquín del Río has been awarded the award Galeno to the most outstanding research of the year. The Minister of Health, Ana Pastor, made submission in the Casino of Madrid this distinction awarded by the pharmaceutical industry.

Dr. Del Río is director of the department of Pharmacology of the School of Medicine and researcher principal of one of the priority lines of the University of Navarra related to the research in the vascular wall.

Last year he coordinated the area of Physiology and Pharmacology of the National Agency of Evaluation and Prospective (ANEP) of the Ministry of Science and Technology. He has also been president of the Technical Commission of Pharmacology of the Fondo de Investigaciones Sanitarias ( 1983-1987) and of the Spanish Society of Neurosciences (1987-1991). Author of 220 publications, Dr. Del Río has directed 31 doctoral thesis .
