Onésimo Díaz, a priest and professor at the University of Navarra, has just launched a work entitled Mujeres protagonistas del siglo XX (Women protagonists of the 20th century). It is a essay that aims to show the history of the last century through women, who have left documentary evidence in their public activities, in their written work and in their cinematographic productions. It will be presented on November 12 in Madrid at 7.30 p.m. at bookshop Neblí. The author of the book and the psychiatrist and writer Marian Rojas will intervene.

According to Onésimo Díaz, "this book is situated within a history of women in the context of total history, that is, a study of women in interrelation with the history of men. I am looking for the female protagonism and the meaning of their actions in recent history, and, consequently, I wish to give visibility to women in the historical narrative".

As in previous books, the author uses biographies, novels and films, but this time with the particularity that most of them have been made by women. According to Professor Diaz, "attention to explain through his works the most important events of the last hundred years, from the First World War to the present day, giving greater prominence to many hidden women".

Throughout the story, the books of Edith Wharton, Natalia Ginzburg and Nina Berbérova, the films directed by Leni Riefestahl, Margarethe von Trotta and Kathryn Bigelow and starring Barbara Sukowa, Juliette Binoche and Meryl Streep, the political decisions of Rosa Luxemburg, Golda Meier and Margaret Thatcher, the thoughts of Edith Stein, Dorothy Day and Hanna Arendt, and a long etcetera of women more or less known in the twentieth century take center stage.
