Jaime Ruiz was proclaimed winner of the absolute category of the II Olimpiada de Ortografía organized by Helena Moro (PED + ED.PRIM.'19) and María Percaz (ED. PRIM.'17) with the partnership de la School of Education and Psychology and of Philosophy and Letters of the University of Navarra.

A total of 60 students from the 5th and 6th grades of Miravalles and El Redín participated in the contest, which consisted of three phases. To begin with, each grade, separately, performed a text dictation and a written spelling; followed by a round of spelling, this time, oral.

To conclude, both courses competed together with a test similar to that of the second phase.

The competition contemplates up to 5 prizes: Two in the school category, in which both Miravalles and El Redín, enjoyed the award; two others in individual categories -one for each course-; and the award of the absolute category in which all the courses compete.

Thus, in the individual categories Javier Olávarri and Jaime Ruiz, who was again proclaimed champion, this time in the absolute category, were proclaimed winners.

The jury of the competition was composed of: Manuel Casado, corresponding member of the RAE and professor of the School of Philosophy y Letras; the professor of the same School Carmela Pérez-Salazar, and Ana Zúñiga, professor of the School of Education and Psychology.

This workshop is framed in the project Trivium, developed by Helena Moro and María Percaz, with the support of the teacher of high school Miravalles-El Redín and the School of Education and Psychology, Mª Ángeles Sánchez-Ostiz. The goal of project Trivium, which started two years ago, is to contribute to raise awareness about the importance of spelling and writing at the Education primary school stage.
