The history of Nursing and its "Protagonists", in a exhibition of the University of Navarra

Today, Tuesday, October 13, the School of Nursing of the University of Navarra inaugurates its exhibition "Protagonists", in the framework of the International Year of Nurses and Midwives. The sample, located in the Central Library Services of the academic campus , has counted with the partnership of the Red Cross of Navarra, Clínica Universidad de Navarra and the Ethnographic Museum of the Kingdom of Pamplona.

It is a historical review of the development of the profession told through the testimony of its protagonists, with bibliography and objects related to the profession - such as boxes, jars, bottles, old tools and even devices such as an old delivery table - as well as old uniforms used by nurses.

The heart of sample are the autobiographies of personalities as relevant to this profession as Florence Nightingale -considered the precursor of modern nursing-, Mary Livermore or Louisa May Alcott: activists who wrote the first works that recounted and vindicated the role of women nurses in conflicts, through their own experience in the Civil War in the United States.

The exhibition will remain at the Library Services Central of campus until December 21, with free access.

The inauguration, which will be held at Library Services Central at 1 p.m., will be attended by, among other representatives of the collaborating organizations, Arantxa Osinaga, president of Central, will be attended, among other representatives of the collaborating entities, by Arantxa Osinaga, president of high school of Nursing of Navarra; Carmen Rumeu, director of CUN Nursing; Rafael Huarte, director of the Red Cross of Navarra; Elur Ulibarrena, director of the Ethnographic Museum of the Kingdom of Pamplona; María Iraburu, Vice President of the University of Navarra; Mercedes Pérez, dean of School of Nursing; and Víctor Sanz, director of Library Services University of Navarra.
