The School of Nursing of the University of Navarra presents the book Nurses, a tribute to all those people, including students, professors and staff not professor, who have made possible the implementation and progress of the School of Nursing of the University from 1954 to the present School. The book has been written by the journalist and historian Ana Escauriaza and coordinated by Javier Marrodán, professor at School of Communication at the University of Navarra.

"This work aims to be a service of journalism to nursing through three fundamental pillars: photographs, the responses of the nurses themselves, who were sent a questionnaire to give voice to their profession, and micro-reports on the history of the School," emphasizes Escauriaza. For his part, the coordinator of the book, Javier Marrodán, assures that "it is not a scholarly or academic account, but rather a review of the main milestones in the history of the School, School from four years ago, from its beginnings".

The essay of this work has been supported by various articles, reports and news published in essay, the newspaper that was published at the University of Navarra until the 2000s, references provided by the School itself and, to a large extent, interviews with nurses from various promotions, who, through their experience, have made their professional biographies known. It also contains eight in-depth interviews that aim to reflect different nursing profiles: two professionals, two patients, two students -graduates in 2015 and 2016- and two patients' relatives. The photographs belong to the file Fotográfico de la Universidad de Navarra as well as photographer Jesús Caso.

"It's a doctorate in humanity."

The challenge of the book in final has been to show "the intangibles of the profession," says Escauriaza, who also affirms that, for her, nursing "is the science of care, the mastery of observation, the ability to listen, to say, to find the right moment; it is the gift of accuracy, delicacy, mental acuity, theoretical wisdom and internship. It is a doctorate in humanity".
