The high school Mayor Belagua pays tribute to 'La Pamplonesa' on its centenary

In its Closing Ceremony, the Colegios Mayores Belagua and Mendaur have imposed their highest distinction to various individuals and institutions.

The music band 'La Pamplonesa' has received the scholarship of Honor of the high school Mayor Belagua, coinciding with the celebration this year of its centenary. It has been in the classroom Magna of the University of Navarra, in front of about 700 people who have accompanied the Belagua and Mendaur Colleges in their Closing Ceremony.

They have also received this distinction, on behalf of the CM Mendaur, the teacher of Philosophy José María Torralba; and on behalf of the CM Belagua, Sofía Collantes, journalist and director of the Solidarity Time Bank Tantaka; Icíar Astiasarán, Vice President of research of the University of Navarra and director of project 'Tantaka inclusión'; and the renowned architect Ignacio Vicens, who also delivered the lecture 'O Beethoven, o Bisbal', in which he encouraged university students to be magnanimous: "Do not waste time, squeeze it in the enjoyment of the beautiful. Seek the superior, excellence. We are interested in everything beautiful that the human spirit has left in history".

Representing 'La Pamplonesa' were its president, José Andrés Palacios, and its secretary, Luis San Martín. The latter received the scholarship of Honor on behalf of the whole band and recalled the relationship that 'La Pamplonesa' has had with the University. Among other things, he has referred to the concert with music by the Beatles that they performed in 2015 in the then recently inaugurated University of Navarra Museum, and to the seventies, when "for six years in a row, on St. Joseph's Day, 'La Pamplonesa' gave concerts in this University in which Tchaikovsky, Monti, Wagner, Rossini, Verdi...".

For her part, Sofia Collantes, director of the project of solidarity Tantaka, thanked the scholarship of Honor and congratulated the CM Belagua for "combining all branches of knowledge with social activities". In this sense, she assured: "work for the third sector in Navarra, and I can say that the Belagua is a of solidarity. high school Mayor Belagua is a reference letter of solidarity in the city of Pamplona".

The general director of CM Belagua, Héctor Devesa, explained that, with the Honorary Scholarships awarded by the Colegios Mayores Belagua and Mendaur, they wanted to distinguish " people or institutions that have contributed to promote the concern for the common good" and that share the idea of the Colegios Mayores of "achieving a better, fairer, freer, more truthful and more beautiful society".
