Ceit appoints new Executive and Corporate Presidents

The board president of the technology center Ceit has appointed Eduardo Ayesa as Executive Chairman and Ignacio Martín as Corporate Chairman.

San Sebastian, April 17, 2023. The board president of Ceit has appointed Eduardo Ayesa Iturrate as Executive President of the center, replacing José María Rodríguez Ibabe, who had held the position since 2017. The appointment will take effect on May 5, the date on which José María Rodríguez Ibabe will leave position due to his retirement.

Likewise, Ignacio Martín San Vicente, a member of Ceit 's Strategic committee since 2014, has been appointed Corporate President of the latter, replacing José María Vázquez Eguskiza.

Eduardo Ayesa Iturrate is researcher of Ceit since 1992, year in which he obtained the degree scroll PhD in Industrial Engineering from the University of Navarra. He has participated in more than 100 research and development+i projects, has authored or co-authored more than 200 scientific publications and directed 12 doctoral thesis . Between 2002 and 2018 he directed the group of Environmental Engineering and the Water and Health Division of the center. He has also actively participated in scientific and technological innovation forums in the water sector during his career.

Parallel to his activity at research, he is Professor partner at Tecnun, the School of Engineering of the University of Navarra.

The board president of Ceit thanks José María Rodríguez Ibabe for "the years dedicated to the service of Ceit as researcher and president", as well as "his leadership, experience and commitment, which have been fundamental for the growth and development of the center". During the six years of presidency, the center has been adapted to comply with the 2015 Decree of the Basque Government, which has allowed Ceit to remain part of the network Basque Technology Centers. In addition to the milestones achieved, perhaps the most important thing has been his example of generosity, commitment and continuous work . A phrase he likes to use can perhaps summarize his bequest: "Ezina, ekinez, egina" (The impossible, if you put your mind to it, is done).

New Corporate President

The board president of Ceit has appointed Ignacio Martín San Vicente, director of Repsol, of Acerinox and member of committee Estratégico of Ceit since 2014, Corporate President to replace José María Vázquez Eguskiza, also a member of committee Estratégico of Ceit for more than 25 years.

Ignacio Martín San Vicente is graduate in Industrial Engineering from the University of Navarra. He has developed his professional degree program in various companies, mainly in the industrial sector, where he has held positions of maximum responsibility as executive chairman of Gamesa, CEO of CIE Automotive and independent director of Indra and Bankoa. He has also managed companies such as GSB group, GKN Driveline and Alcatel. Ignacio Martín San Vicente is currently an independent director of Repsol and Acerinox and visiting professor of Tecnun.

The board president of Ceit would like to thank José María Vázquez Eguskiza for his invaluable partnership during this time in the development of proposals and strategic decisions that are marking the present and future of Ceit. During this time, the center has benefited from his extensive experience as an engineer and as president of Giroa Veolia, of the association of Executives and Professionals of the Basque Country (ADYPE) and of the Business Confederation of Bizkaia (CEBEK).
