The Sustainability department of the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa and Model2Bio, the European project led by Ceit, will organize a workshop on October 19 at Naturklima on management waste and bioeconomy as an opportunity for the regional development .

On October 19, the Sustainabilitydepartment the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa and Model2Bio, the European project led by the technology center Ceit, organize the Workshop "The management of waste and new recovery options: The bioeconomy as an opportunity for the regional development ". This event, which will bring together leading players in the agri-food sector and experts in waste management , will be held at the Naturklima building in Eskuzaitzeta (Donostia-San Sebastian).

The workshop has as main goal promote a dialogue around the sustainable management of by-products in the agri-food industry and explore the opportunities offered by the bioeconomy for the development regional. The deputy for sustainability of the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa, Jose Ignacio Asensio, will welcome the workshop, which will be divided into two thematic blocks and will be attended by recognized experts in the subject.

research and development in the bioeconomy

In the first block, leading professionals from the agri-food sector, from organizations such as BRTA, Okin, Algaloop, Orloga, Ondoan and Ceit, will share their experiences at research and development in the field of bioeconomy. They will discuss scientific advances related to the reuse of food by-products and will analyze the requirements fundamentals of a circular bioeconomy.

A tool capable of giving a second life to by-products.

The second block will focus on the presentation of the results of the European project Model2Bio, which after three years of work has been successfully completed. Model2Bio has developed a tool based on an innovative mathematical model , capable of predicting and providing second chances to by-products generated by the agri-food industry, promoting their recycling and reuse.

This workshop presents a discussion forum for promote innovative solutions in waste management and the promotion of the bioeconomy as an opportunity for regional sustainable development .
