The spin-off launched in 2022 by the Technology Center Ceit has successfully closed its first round of investment.
SafeLoc can estimate the positions of people and objects with high accuracy based on Ultra Wide Band positioning technology .
SafeLoc Systems, the spin-off launched in 2022 by the Technology Center Ceit and specialized in advanced systems for locating people and/or assets in real time, has successfully closed a financing round of 2 million euros. This investment has been led by BeAble Capital, a leading venture capital fund specialized in Science and Technology, and has also counted with the co-investment of SPRI Emprendimiento through management Capital Riesgo Euskadi. The investment will allow SafeLoc Systems to accelerate its technological development and expand its presence in the market.
SafeLoc, led by entrepreneur David Sagüés, specializes in the development of real-time location systems (RTLS) for people and/or assets. The approach of the business is based on Ultra-Wide Band (UWB) radio technology, a solution that offers high accuracy in the measurement of distances and location, with margins of error of only centimeters. This technology has emerged as a highly effective alternative to Bluetooth, as it is robust in metallic environments and generates minimal interference, making it an ideal choice for radio frequency-sensitive environments such as hospitals.
The technology has been developed from scratch, thanks to the work of more than 15 years of group "Intelligent Systems for Industry 4.0" of Ceit. This technology allows SafeLoc to optimize the system to be able to work where other solutions cannot, offering maximum accuracy in harsh industrial environments, such as metallic and dusty environments, as well as in environments with high electromagnetic interference.
Strategic partners
BeAble Capital has invested in the spin-off through BeAble Innvierte Science Equity Fund FCRE, a new €50M investment vehicle financed by CDTI/Innvierte through Next Generation EU funds, several family offices, pension funds and BBVA. For its part, the Basque Government has done so through management Capital Riesgo Euskadi and Spri Emprendimiento, an entity of the department of development Economic, Sustainability and Environment, which depends on regional government and promotes regional industry.
