The balance between freedom of expression and respect for the religious sentiments of others is the focus of a seminar organized by the project 'Religion and Civil Society' of the Institute for Culture and Society (ICS) and the School of Communication of the University of Navarra. It will be given by Emmanuel Derieux, Full Professor of Information Law at the University of Paris II.

The seminar analyzes the crisis of the terrorist attack on the satirical weekly newspaper Charlie Hebdoin which two jihadists murdered twelve people and seriously wounded four others "as revenge for the honor" of Mohammed, of whom the magazine had published humorous cartoons.

On the other hand, it should be recalled that last Saturday another attack took place in a cultural center in Copenhagen (Denmark) after the colloquium 'Art, blasphemy and freedom of expression', in which the French ambassador to the Nordic country, François Zimeray, and the cartoonist Lars Vilks, famous for the publication of some controversial cartoons of Mohammed in 2007, were participating. One person was killed and three were injured.
