In 1965 began an activity of training of secondary school teachers at the University of Navarra, promoted by Prof. José Luis González-Simancas: a pioneering initiative that, later, would be oriented to promote processes of training and improvement of teachers, managers and family counselors within the high school of Sciences of the Education (ICE).

At the same time, programs of study of research pedagogical was initiated, which has been consolidated throughout these decades in the field of educational guidance, management and management of educational centers, Education in human virtues, university pedagogy, and the methods of teaching at the University, among others.

During those years we collaborated in the training and improvement of thousands of teachers of teaching primary and average, of academic staff university teachers, of directors of educational centers, and also of family counselors in different parts of the world.

The high school of Sciences of the Education had the peculiarity of promote in Spain, following the Anglo-Saxon tradition of the Institute of Education of the University of London, the training of practicing professionals. The pioneers in this ambitious project were Professors José Luis González-Simancas, Ramon Massó, Oliveros F. Otero, Gonzalo Vázquez Gámez, David Isaacs. Later, Gerardo Castillo, Ana María Navarro, Javier Tourón, Maria del Coro Molinos and José Benigno Freire joined the group.

This idea, born at the University of Navarra, was included a few years later in the General Law of Education in Spain (1970).

A decade after the start of the ICE, the Science Section of the Education was born with several Departments. New professors were progressively incorporated. Over time, in these more than four decades of existence, the Departments evolved as different curricula appeared and were updated. On September 1, 2014, it will result in the School of Education and Psychology.
