Appointment of the board Board of Directors of the new School of Education and Psychology

The Center was launched at C by the University last November and will begin operations on September 1, 2014.

The President of the University, Alfonso Sánchez-Tabernero, has appointed the board Directive of the new School of Education and Psychology. The appointments are: dean, Concepción Naval; vice-deans, Alfredo Rodríguez Sedano and Carolina Ugarte; director of development, Marie Anne Reynell; and General Manager, Carmen Muriel, who will combine her position with the management of the School of Philosophy and Letters.

Concepción Naval, Dean

She is an Accredited Professor of Theory of the Education. She has developed her teaching at the University since 1993. She was Vice President (2001-2012) and director of department from Education (1996-2001). During 2012-13 she was Visiting Fellow and Oliver Smithies Lecturer at Balliol College, University of Oxford, and Visiting Faculty at Teachers College, Columbia University.

His research has focused in recent years on the study of citizen Education and social participation, the social influence of social media among young people, innovation professor through new methodologies and the use of communication technologies in school and university settings, and museums as educational spaces. He initiated and since then directs: the project "Civic Parliament" (since 2010) funded by the Foral Parliament of Navarra, and the group of research consolidated "Citizenship and Education" (since 1997).


Alfredo Rodríguez Sedano, Associate Dean

He is Professor-titular of Sociology. D. in Philosophy and Letters from the University of Navarra and in Economics from IESE, is coordinator of the doctoral program at Education at the University, since 2012. He is advisor international for the doctoral program in Education at the University of La Sabana (Colombia). He has been Visiting Professor of several universities in the Americas. He is a member of committee publishing house and scientific arbitration of the journal "Education y Educadores", Universidad de La Sabana de Colombia, and member of several editorial committees of other scientific journals.


Carolina Ugarte, Vice-Dean

Associate Professor at area of Theory and History of Education. Her research focuses on the training of professional and civic competences in Education higher education within the line of research "Education and citizenship". She is currently a member of the project Parlamento Cívico which is developed jointly by the University of Navarra and the Parliament of Navarra. On the other hand, in the area of Organization and management of educational centers, she researches the relationship between the autonomy of educational centers and the improvement of students' results. She is currently Vice-Dean of Students at School of Philosophy and Letters.

Marie Anne Reynell, director of development

She holds a degree in Art History and Italian from the University of Sussex (UK), a diploma in International programs of study from the University of Salamanca and Master's Degree in Byzantine Art History from The Courtauld Institute of Art in London. She has lived and worked in Canada, Malaysia, Australia, Belgium, Italy, France, Portugal, England and Mexico. She speaks English, French, Italian and Dutch.

Until now, she has been the coordinator of area International of the Foundation business of the University of Navarra. She has been manager of international internships and supervisor of the management of European and non-EU projects, of the internationalization of FEUN, and of corporate relations with international companies.


Carmen Muriel, General Manager

Carmen Muriel, has a degree in Biological Sciences in the branch of Zoology from the University of Navarra, Master's Degree in management of Fishing and Aquaculture Companies, IME-ICADE, and Program of General Administration (PDG) of the IESE. She has been Director of Administration of the association de Amigos, where she performed tasks of management economic, Personnel Management Service and aid programs. Since September 2011 she is General Manager of the School of Philosophy and Letters, position which she will combine with General Manager of the new School.
