Food safety from the inside

The students of the VII edition of the European Master's Degree in Nutrition and Metabolism visited the National Center for Food Technology and Safety (CNTA).

The students of the VII edition of the European Master's Degree in Nutrition and Metabolism of the University of Navarra have visited the facilities of the National Center for Food Technology and Safety (CNTA), in San Adrián (Navarra).

The visit is part of the subject "Practical Workshops in Food Sciences", given by the department of Food Sciences, Physiology and Toxicology of the School of Pharmacy and that has as goal bring the student closer to the professional world of Food, through visits to the different areas of work that exist in the working world.

"In this session, the students of the postgraduate program were made position of the work that is developed in the laboratory of waters of the CNTA, the laboratory of food packaging, the physical-chemical analysis -where they perform analysis of the nutritional value of food and that is indicated in the labeling-; as well as the facilities for analysis of contaminants and other chemical risks, the laboratory of microbiology and the pilot plant", explains the manager of the subject, Dr. Marta Cuervo.

In total, more than 100 professionals work at CNTA. Among them, dietitians-nutritionists and other specialists in the field of food safety.
