Three researchers from the School of Philosophy and Letters of the University of Navarra are cataloging the contemporary art collection of the Pamplona City Hall. They are Ignacio Migueliz and Eduardo Morales, teachers of the Chair of Heritage and Navarrese Art; and Silvia Sádaba, teaching assistant of the department of Art History.

The scientists are finalizing the registration work -which they expect to finish by mid-December- of some 450 pieces, including paintings, sculptures, photographs and installations, acquired by the Pamplona City Council since 1993 at the Art Biennials of the Navarrese capital, the Encuentros de Jóvenes Artistas, Arco, and also purchased directly from artists and galleries.

"A descriptive file is prepared for each work, with measurements, technique, data of origin, exhibitions in which it has participated...; a study of the author and the artistic movement in which it is framed, including bibliography ; a evaluation of the importance of the piece and whether or not it should be registered as an Asset of Cultural Interest; as well as a consideration of its physical condition, possible restorations, etc.", explains Ignacio Migueliz.

The work began last Easter and is part of a agreement between the Government of Navarra and the City Council of Pamplona, which plans the cataloging of movable property heritage of the region. This agreement, which is governed by the Foral Law of Cultural Patrimony, "allows that they are creating instructions of data of movable goods that until now were not known", explains Mercedes Jover, coordinator of the project.
