Wheelchairs 'made in Tecnun' travel to Equatorial Guinea
Students from design Industrial have conceived an economical manufacturing process in line with the African country's resources.
The association ICAVI4all and Tecnun have teamed up to set up a workshop for the manufacture and repair of wheelchair materials at the lowest possible cost, aimed at people with disabilities and dependency problems in Equatorial Guinea.
Since January of this year, the students of the subject of laboratory of design Industrial have been participating in the project Let's Enable Guinea (LEG), as part internship of the subject and from which emerged a project Fin de degree program, of the student Itziar González.
Specifically, the students have devised a process of manufacturing wheelchairs trying to harmonize the greatest possible technical reliability according to the resources of the country. According to Laida San Sebastián, manager of the foundation, who has supervised development of work, together with subject professor Marta Rois, "what we want is for the citizens of Equatorial Guinea to be self-sufficient and not depend on the shipments of material that we send from here," says San Sebastián.
