Recent Work Pedro Falçao: From large to small scale
The Portuguese architect gives a lecture in which he has shown the students of the School of Architecture the versatility and detail of their projects
Pedro Falçao, a Portuguese architect with an extensive professional career, gave a lecture on Friday, October 20, at lecture at the University of Navarra. Aware that architecture is a profession at the service of society, he has shown the students his great versatility and training when faced with a wide range of projects, from public buildings to residential and urban projects.
In the sample of his recent work we have seen projects such as the house in the center of Lisbon, where the contrast of the facade, a plastic intervention, with the brick of the adjoining facades, so present in the history of Lisbon, stands out.
He has not forgotten the facilities, present and important in many of his projects, especially in the Medical Clinic, a small hospital facility that structurally revolves around a single pillar located in the center of the plant.
Falçao has gone through some of the projects he is developing from top to bottom. Most of them show the importance the architect attaches to light: "The street enters the building". In this way, with light, he transforms the spaces.
The fact that the projects shown are under construction has made it possible to appreciate the strategies of project. His projects, of which the sketches that illustrate the creative processes also stand out, find logic, connect spaces, hierarchize volumes and give importance to encounters. Falçao goes from the small to the large scale with naturalness and lightness. As do his references, the great masters, on whom he always has his eyes fixed.
