The eight Spanish students of 2nd year of high school diploma students who will go to the International and Iberoamerican Biology Olympiads are preparing this week at the University of Navarra's School de Ciencias y el CIMA of the University of Navarra.

The students will have scientific tutors who will coordinate their stay at work, during which they will do internships in Microbiology, Biochemistry , Plant Histology and Zoology. In addition, they will deepen in topics of Genetics, Cytology, Botany, and Ethology and Ecology, from agreement with the agenda that will be addressed in the two competitions. They will also visit the Clínica Universidad de Navarra and will be introduced to the world of research at CIMA.

The International Biology Olympiad - to which the first four finalists will go - will take place in Changwon City (Korea) from July 12 to 18, while the IV Ibero-American Biology Olympiad - destination of the other four participants - will be held in Lima (Peru).

Representatives of Tafalla and Pamplona

Among those selected for the final in Korea are Jon Lerga from Tafalla, from high school Sancho II el Mayor; as well as Antoni Beltrán Marqués, from high school Nuestra Señora del Pilar in Valencia; Lucas Ramón Díaz Anadón, from IES Áramo in Oviedo; and Daniel Ortega Quijana, from IES Torres Quevedo in Santander.

The next four finalists to go to the Ibero-American test are Diego Galán from Pamplona, from high school San Ignacio de Pamplona; Luis Blasco, from IES Sagasta de Logroño; Sara Johnson, from IES IES Padre Isla de León; and Álvaro Viñals, from high school Nuestra Señora del Pilar de Valencia.
