The high school de Salud Carlos III funds 26 biomedical research projects at the University of Navarra

The programs of study are focused on finding personalized treatments and advanced therapies for cancer, rare diseases and cardiovascular diseases, among others.

The high school de Salud Carlos III(ISCIII) has selected 26 projects of research of the University of Navarra, within its call of the Fund of research in Health (FIS) of 2019. The programs of study will be carried out in the Cima and the Clínica Universidad de Navarra and at the Schools of Medicine and Science. Of the total number of projects awarded, 24 have been presented at the framework of the high school of research Sanitaria de Navarra(IdiSNA).

The ISCIII (attached to the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities) is the main public organization of research that finances, promotes and executes the biomedical research in Spain through different calls for proposals. Among them, the FIS grants are aimed at research projects in health and have a duration of 3 years.

Strategic lines

The work funded in this edition forms part of the main strategic lines of the University. Specifically, they focus on the search for diagnostic markers (4) and personalized treatments for cancer (7), obesity (2), cardiovascular diseases (4) and rare diseases (1), among others (2). To this end, they propose the search for diagnostic markers (4) and the application of advanced therapies, such as immunotherapy (4), tissue bioengineering (1), next-generation mass sequencing (1), etc.

The total amount granted to the University of Navarra is 3,837,755 euros.
