"The real managers of people are the leaders of the Departments of the different areas of the business", underlined the director of Human Resources of Deloitte Spain, Luis López Sánchez, during the sixth session of the cycle 'My experience managing people' of the Master's Degree in Personnel Management Service in the Organizations of the School of Economics.

López Sánchez believes that the directors of each department should function like the director of an orchestra, who moves the instruments, but without playing any of them; his work is to direct the melody. Along the same lines, the executive assured that "the best thing about working at Deloitte is empowerment; the company allows you to carry out initiatives with projects in which you believe".

With regard to innovation, López Sánchez believes that it is necessary to stop for a moment and ask ourselves how else to do what we have been doing up to now.

On the other hand, the human resources expert believes that "the most important thing, beyond technical and specialized knowledge, is to learn to be honest and do the right thing, even if no one is watching you". This and never stop learning are the keys to being a good professional, he said.

Luis López Sánchez is a former student of the Universidad Pontificia Comillas ICAI-ICADE and for the last 18 years he has directed the Human Resources department of Deloitte Spain.
