conference of Classical Theatre in the halls of the University Museum

They have counted on the partnership of the group of research Siglo de Oro (GRISO).

With the start of the Autumn 2015 Performing Arts program of the University of Navarra Museum also begins its partnership with the GRISO (group de research Siglo de Oro), which has been commissioned to select a series of scenes core topic of Spanish theater of the Golden Age to be presented in the form of dramatized readings in the various exhibition halls of the Museum.

Under the label "conference of Classical Theater in the halls of the Museum", different shows are scheduled between November 6 and 14, each of which will star the great theatrical names of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries (Calderon, Tirso, Lope, Cervantes...), whose characters will come back to life through the stagings of the most famous moments of The Mayor of Zalamea, Life is a Dream, The Mocker of Seville, The Knight of Olmedo, The Knight of Olmedo....), whose characters will come back to life through the staging of the most famous moments of El alcalde de Zalamea, La vida es sueño, El burlador de Sevilla, El caballero de Olmedo or El juez de los divorcios, among other titles.

These theatrical conference , whose artistic director is Liuba Cid, are an approach to the work of the authors of the Golden Age to the halls of the Museum, in an experience that will allow the viewer to enter the dramatic universe of our most popular classics.

The program is divided into two parts conference: the first on November 6, 7 and 8, and the second on November 13 and 14, which will be devoted entirely to represent Lope de Vega's play Fuenteovejuna (on 13 the I act and on 14, the II and III act). The three-act version by Liuba Cid and the company Mephisto Teatro, was premiered on behalf of the International Classical Theater Festival of Almagro in its XXXII edition.

Both conference are divided into different schedules and passes, which will give the visitor the possibility to attend to the reading and representation of the scenes choosing the time that best suits him during his visit to the Museum.

In addition, Dr. Ignacio Arellano, director of GRISO, author of the selection of scenes from our great classics, will offer on November 10 a lecture entitled "In search of applause: spectacle and theatrical battles in the Golden Age", at 19:30 pm at the Museum of the University of Navarra.

Likewise, Dr. Carlos Mata Induráin, secretary of the GRISO, has compiled an essential annotatedbibliography on the Golden Age theater and its authors, which will serve as a guide for those who enroll in the free-choice subject offered by the University of Navarra Museum and aimed at students of all degrees (1 credit ECTS credit for participation in the Museum's activities).
