The University of Navarra organizes the I conference of autobiographical writing

The round tables and conferences will be held on February 4 and 5 and will be free of charge.

The department of Linguistics and Modern Languages of the University of Navarra organizes the I conference of autobiographical writing. This meeting, which will take place on February 4 and 5 at the Library Services of Humanities of the academic center, will address, through round tables and conferences, the importance of autobiography and its social and cultural impact, the epistolary and diaries.

María Pilar Saiz, Rosalía Baena and Gabriel Insausti, researchers and professors at the University of Navarra, make up the organizing committee of these conference , which aims to delve deeper into autobiographical writings and which will open on February 4 with lecture De l'autobiographie au journal: histoire d'une dérive, by Philippe Lejeune, professor at the University of Paris Nord and world specialist in autobiography. This will be followed by roundtable, Letters and narrative identity, with the participation of Pilar Saiz, Rosa Fernández Urtasun, Gabriel Insausti and Víctor García Ruiz, from the University of Navarra. In the afternoon, and under the heading Autobiography and cultural mediation, the researchers of the School of Philosophy and Letters of the center Rosalía Baena, Javier de Navascués and Íñigo Barbancho will participate in a roundtable .

Friday's session will begin with a plenary lecture on Autobiography and culture: influence and repercussions in the Spanish context, at position by Anna Caballé, professor of Literature at the University of Barcelona and recent winner of the award Gaziel de Biografías y Memorias with 'Mujer en fuga', a biography of Carmen Laforet, co-authored by the award-winning Israel Rolón.

Professor Caballé is also a pioneer in the study of autobiography in Spain, and currently directs the Biographical Unit programs of study at the University of Barcelona. This discussion paper will be followed by roundtable Diaries, domestic landscape and exoticism, with the intervention of poets Soren Peñalver and Antonio Moreno. The conference will close with a final roundtable with the participation of Alejandro Llano, from the University of Navarra, the Sevillian writer Aquilino Duque and Jon Juaristi, writer and Full Professor at the University of Alcalá de Henares, who will speak on intellectual autobiography.
