A few days before celebrating the feast of San Saturnino, patron saint of Pamplona, the Chair of Heritage and Navarrese Art of the School of Philosophy and Letters of the University of Navarra has presented the book "The chapel of San Fermín in the parish church of San Lorenzo in Pamplona". The event, held online and attended by more than fifty people, was attended by Tomás Gómez-Acebo, Vice President Alumni of the University of Navarra; Ana Burusco, Director General of Universities of the Government of Navarra; Ricardo Fernández Gracia, director of the Chair of Heritage and Navarrese Art of the School of Philosophy and Letters; and the former archivist of the City Council of Pamplona José Luis Molins, author of the publication.

This is the second time that Molins has dedicated his study to this iconic monument in Pamplona. His first work, "Capilla de San Fermín en la iglesia de San Lorenzo de Pamplona", was published in 1974 and edited by the Institución Príncipe de Viana and the Pamplona City Council. Almost half a century later, Molins approaches the same object of study but with new approaches and materials that he has been compiling over decades of study. As he has pointed out "in those years that have elapsed between one and the other of my two books, science has advanced and, curiously, there was no monograph available at this time. I believe that this demand must be met because San Fermín, both as an object of worship and as the backbone of culture, is extremely important. Today, as yesterday, San Fermín and what is inherent to it is one of the signs of identity of Navarre".

In his speech, Tomás Gómez-Acebo stated that "José Luis Molins has done an impressive work . The material is the same as in the first of his books, the chapel of San Fermín, but he has studied it in a very different way, with more depth, more archives, more documentation and more photographs. The result is a prodigious work . The chapel of San Fermín is a unique site that deserved an explanation, and here we have it".

For her part, Ana Burusco thanked the author for "his exhaustive work": "Although we all know the parish of San Lorenzo and the chapel of San Fermín, works like this one bring us closer to our heritage, our culture and our past. It is admirable how the author reviews the chapel's worship, relics, history, construction and art. These initiatives, which we will continue to support, help to raise awareness of the need to conserve, disseminate and keep alive the heritage of our land". Ricardo Fernández Gracia has also expressed his gratitude to the author, "for letting us look out, from the particular viewpoint of this publication, to the chapel of San Fermín, where Molins expresses himself as a good professor, in love and excited with the work; for doing so with the exercise of good writing and help us to deepen, value and savor much of our past".

Since last Tuesday 24, the book is available for download on the website of the Chair de Patrimonio y Arte Navarro.
