220 new students begin their medical studies programs of study

The School prepared an introductory workshop focused on the medical profession that introduced the students to their new university life.

On Monday, September 3, School welcomed 220 new students from 37 cities in Spain and 11 different countries. On their first day as university students, they received such an identifying element as the medical student gown, while they listened attentively to the advice of professors and students from higher courses during the Introduction to Medical Profession.

Dr. Secundino Fernández, Dean, reminded them in his welcome greeting of the importance for their profession of always putting people at the center of their work: "Learning Medicine is a powerful tool that integrates internship, research, technology... to alleviate the suffering and pain of human beings in any part of the world. So, always think big because you will be a doctor wherever you go".

During the introductory workshop , the new students had the opportunity to meet their advisors. In addition, they visited Central Building, where they had a meeting with María Iraburu, Vice President of academic staff, who reminded them of the founding spirit of the University and encouraged them to always aspire to excellence: "You have the opportunity to train to be excellent doctors but you will also need to be excellent people. Here you will find a favorable ecosystem to grow professionally and humanly".

In addition, the students learned first-hand about different initiatives that complement university life, such as Tantaka or the possibilities offered by the Sports Service. They also exchanged experiences with other students of the School to successfully face their first course and received their first class on medical identity at position from doctors Loreto García del Barrio and José Luis del Pozo.
