The group of research Siglo de Oro (GRISO) of the University of Navarra will participate in the V International congress of the language Spanish (V CILE). The news was announced by Professor Alfredo Matus Olivier, Academic Secretary of the congress and director of the Chilean Academy of the language, after giving a speech lecture at the University of Navarra.

This meeting, which constitutes the most important world quotation on the Spanish language , will be held in Valparaiso (Chile), from March 2 to 5, under the theme "America in the Spanish language ". The congress, which will continue the work of those held in Zacatecas (Mexico, 1997), Valladolid (Spain, 2001), Rosario (Argentina, 2004) and Cartagena de Indias (Colombia, 2007), will open the official commemorations of the Bicentennial of the Independence of the Spanish-American republics.

Alfredo Matus Olivier emphasized that the GRISO's research , developed under the direction of Professor Ignacio Arellano, places this team "at the forefront of international Hispanism" and reiterated his invitation for the V CILE to be a "magnificent world showcase of the work carried out by the GRISO". The group will exhibit several publications, some of them related to the American field.

Linguistic and literary aspects of Hispanic America.

In addition to this expert, Jorge Eduardo Arellano Sandino, director of the Academia Nicaragüense de la language visited the University of Navarra. Both professors gave lectures at the School of Philosophy and Letters on topics related to linguistic and literary aspects of America.

Alfredo Matus Olivier spoke about differential lexicography, that which deals with the elaboration of dictionaries of the Spanish language , but focused on a specific territorial scope - for example, the Dictionary of Chileanisms, currently in the final phase of elaboration by the Chilean Academy of the language- . For his part, Jorge Eduardo Arellano spoke on El Güegüense, an old play from colonial times, which has been performed in Nicaragua up to the present day. This play, written in Spanish but with important linguistic features of the Nahuatl language spoken in Nicaragua, was declared Intangible Oral Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO.

The two specialists have participated in the production of the New Grammar of the Spanish language , elaborated with a pan-Hispanic orientation by the Royal Spanish Academy and the association of Academies of the Spanish language .
