Current issues such as human cloning, manipulation Genetics or the use in research of cells of uncertain origin are matters whose study requires updated and quality information. For this reason, the academic staff of the department of Humanities Biomedical of the University of Navarra has set up the Bioethics Documentation Center. This initiative, which is supported by the School of Medicine, can be accessed from the Internet.

According to Dr. Antonio Pardo, professor at department de Humanities Biomedicas, the center aims to be "an instrument for doctors to respond ethically to each patient and to society with skill ". Dr. Pardo specifies that this service aims to facilitate access to documents of interest, which can be consulted both in the original version and translated into Spanish. Codes of ethics; international declarations on bioethics; texts relating to legal rules and regulations and jurisprudence; an anthology of articles on bioethics and professional ethics; and a list of links to the websites of various organizations make up the Bioethics Documentation Center.

Interdisciplinary vocation

Dr. Pardo announces that the initiative has a clear interdisciplinary vocation. In fact, he states that access to this documentation subject is complicated to the extent that the issues are addressed by different health professions and published in different media. On the other hand, he points out that the dispersion and variety of sources related to the documents complicates access to information on certain topics.

The expert praises this subject of " reference letter centers on the network", since "they allow information to be easily located, thanks to electronic search systems". He also points out that "they manage to offer updated information by quickly incorporating changes that have occurred in a given subject". Thus, in Dr. Pardo's opinion, the Bioethics Documentation Center overcomes the disadvantages of the loss of current events due to the speed of change and the appearance of new problems.
