Universidad de Los Andes awards the Degree of honorary doctor to Full Professor Alejandro Llano

She is currently Professor Emeritus at School of Philosophy and Letters.

On the occasion of the celebration of the 25th anniversary of the Universidad de Los Andes (Chile), the investiture ceremony of the first honorary doctorates of the academic center was held at framework . The recipients were Alejandro Llano Cifuentes ( Full Professor ) from Philosophy of the University of Navarra and the Chilean lawyer Eduardo Soto Kloss.

Professors Llano and Soto Kloss were presented by their respective sponsors: the director of the Institute of Philosophy, Jorge Peña, and the Dean of the School of Law, Alejandro Romero. The President of the Universidad de Los Andes, José Antonio Guzmán Cruzat, presented them with the doctoral medal and the diploma that accredits them as honorary doctors of the Universidad de los Andes. Quoting law historian Paul Ourliac, he explained that Professors Llano and Soto Kloss meet "in Degree the five characteristics of a doctor: skill to teach, facility in speaking, finesse in the art of interpretation, excellence in manners and the virtue of fortitude.

Professor Llano pointed out that "at this point, my only passion and possession are the books I have read and written". And he added: "of them - of those I have read, not of those I have written - I want to speak as thanks to this award". According to Full Professor of Philosophy,"reading gives us a contemplative attitude. Those who read are people who live many lives. Their intelligence grows and their imagination increases," he said.
