Students from the University of Navarra, in partnership with Tantaka, the high school Mayor Belagua and Campus Home, have managed to fill 169 boxes with 1,843 kilos of clothes, toys and medical supplies for those affected by Hurricane Eta in northern Honduras and Nicaragua. They have also collected 1,500 euros.

Eduardo Panayotti, student , a fourth-year ADE student, launched the initiative. With a Whatsapp group , the native of San Pedro Sula (Honduras), the area most affected by the hurricane, managed to gather 120 volunteers who helped with the collection.

Among the collaborating groups, Tantaka set up a series of points to ask for clothes, toys and bio-sanitary material and Campus Home donated boxes to pack them. For its part, the high school Mayor Belagua promoted the initiative and provided vans to carry the donations. The international shipping business , Lopez Baena, collected the material and will deliver it to an NGO in both countries.

Recently, category 4 hurricane Eta impacted the region with winds of 220 to 240 kilometers per hour, as well as torrential rains that caused flooding in Honduras and Nicaragua. 100,000 families have been displaced and there are fewer than 500 shelters to accommodate everyone.

In Honduras, donations will go to the CEPUDO Foundation, an organization whose goal is to serve the poorest communities in this country. And in Nicaragua, donations will go to the American Nicaraguan Foundation (ANF).
