On 22, 23 and 24 September, the University of Navarra will host an International Symposium on Natural Fertility Recognition. Symposium multidisciplinary International Symposium on the Natural Recognition of Fertility. The meeting, organised by the academic centre together with the Universidad de los Andes (Chile) and the project Veritas Amoris, will address the anthropological, affective and biological dimensions of sexuality and fertility centred on the person

goal The Symposium will bring together specialists from universities and centres in Spain, Chile, the United States, Canada, France, Italy and Ireland with the aim of exploring these dimensions "as instruments of a broader reality, framed in the integral anthropology of the human being as a person", explains Dr. Luis Chiva, director of department of Gynaecology at Clínica Universidad de Navarra and one of the organisers of the Symposium.

"In recent decades, a hedonistic perception has been imposed on society that focuses sexuality on itself, blurring its sense of self-giving, based on respect for one's own body as a constituent part of the person. It seems to us that it is urgent to give value to knowledge to one's own corporeality and sexuality as an essential, marvellous quality that permeates the whole person", emphasises Professor Chiva.

The meeting is aimed at anyone interested for professional or personal reasons: health professionals in the area of fertility and pregnancy, university and teaching average teachers with an interest in the affective-sexual training of their students, anyone who wants to learn about natural methods of fertility recognition, and anyone who wants to deepen their knowledge of the beauty of sexuality centred on the person.

Speakers include Josep Standford (University of Utah, United States), Rene Leiva (University of Ontario, Canada), Christopher West (high school of Theology of the Body, United States), Juan José Pérez Soba (high school Pontifical John Paul II, Rome), René Écochard (Claude Bernard Lyon University, France) and Marguerite Duane (Georgetown University, United States).

The Symposium is part of a wider project of the University of Navarra with the aim of promoting the research on Natural Fertility Recognition (NFR) and its practical applications in the search for pregnancy; facilitating the learning of natural methods of NFR; promoting the training of professionals in this area; and generating a network of people interested in the study and development of the research in this field.
