Commitment to the employment and labor integration in Civican

The "Juntos Somos Capaces" (Together We Can) program has enabled 24 people with disabilities to have a work space in Navarre.

This meeting, framed in the program "Juntos Somos Capaces" ("Together We Can"), had as goal to sensitize the business network of the region and to make available to the attending companies the partnership and the resources of this program.

Currently, more than 2,000 companies participate in this project, launched in 2010, including Navarrese entities such as Sedena, Animsa Berly Corporation, Aranzadi and the University of Navarra.

The President of this academic center, Alfonso Sánchez-Tabernero, spoke of the benefits of this program both for the University and for the people who have joined work space. "Their missing skills have generated a capacity for self-improvement and extraordinary courage. They have discovered that they can contribute a lot to an organization."

For his part, José Antonio Sarría, president of the Confederación de Empresarios de Navarra, pointed out that"there is a lot to be done, a lot of information to be given to companies, as well as a lot of awareness-raising work to eliminate these barriers".

Joining forces

Likewise, for Maribel García, director General Manager of the Navarre Service of employment, it is necessary that"public administrations and private entities join efforts" to achieve the incorporation of people with disabilities in business .

director Finally, Raúl Costilla, MAPFRE's territorial general manager in Navarra, stated that the "Together We Can" program has enabled 24 people with disabilities to have a work space, "which undoubtedly contributes to equal opportunities and improves the quality of life of this group, who are at risk of social exclusion". Fernando Garrido Tomé, director of Fundación MAPFRE's Social Action area also participated.

After the presentation, there was a roundtable on employment and disability, moderated by Sofía Collantes, coordinator of Tantaka, the solidarity time bank of the University of Navarra. Two people with disabilities gave their testimonies at roundtable , as well as three companies that have integrated workers into their staff. In this workshop, which was held on the eve of World Mental Health Day, also collaborate the department of Social Policies of the Government of Navarra and the Care Centers for People with TMG Felix Garrido, Arga, Ordoiz and Queiles.
