The School of Architecture announces the 5th Edition of the International Competition PFC of Chair Madera

The competition will award the project Fin de Degree that for its quality, innovation, originality or creativity highlights the use of wood and aspects of sustainability.

The School of Architecture of the University of Navarra and the Chair Madera announce the 5th edition of the Competition PFC Chair Madera. The competition will award the project Fin de degree program (PFC) that for its quality, innovation, originality or creativity highlights the use of wood and aspects of sustainability.

The award consists of the concession of a scholarship that covers the cost of the enrollment in the Master's Degree in design and management Environmental Buildings (MDGAE), which is taught at the School.

Those who have submitted their PFC at any officially recognized School of Architecture in the home country between September 2014 and February 2017 and have been considered eligible for the degree scroll may participate. Exceptionally, projects that are still pending grade may be submitted to the competition provided that they attach a letter from tutor showing their conformity. Projects may be submitted in Spanish or English.

A jury composed of two professors from the School of Architecture of the University of Navarra, representatives of the Chair Madera and two prestigious architects will meet during the month of March 2017 to analyze the proposals submitted and decide on the award.

The following criteria will be evaluated: the use of wood as the main structural material, the creative and innovative use of wood in the design, the appropriate response to basic functional and architectural criteria, architectural coherence, and sustainability and environmental criteria.

The registration should be made by February 20, 2017, through form at registration.

International Competition

In the 2016 edition, 79 students registered, of which 20% came from international universities, specifically from Argentina, Chile, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Israel, Peru and Uruguay. At the national level, entries came from both public and private universities from all provinces. Last year, 18 national universities were represented in the competition.
