The School of Education and Psychology celebrates the day of the patron saint

Last Wednesday, February 5, the School from Education and Psychology University of Navarra celebrated its patron saint day, in honor of its patrons Saint Augustine of Hippo (programs of study of Pedagogy), Saint Joseph Calasanz ( programs of study of Teaching) and Saint Edith Stein (programs of study of Psychology).

The workshop began with a Holy Mass celebrated at the chapel of Amigos Building, and then continued with one on "the care of children". roundtable which dealt with "the care of the person from the psychological point of view and educational ". The following professors and students spoke: Luis Ángel Díaz, Pedro González, Carolina Machiniena, Olatz Ormaechea, Leyre Abad, Xavier Rodríguez and Camila Velasquez. In addition, the table was moderated by Begoña Urien.

González spoke about providing "opportunities to exercise solidarity citizenship", to bring Education closer to all sectors of the population and to avoid social exclusion. Luis Ángel Díaz, focused on the tools of a general health enquiry . The professor advocated the importance of individual therapy aimed at making the person work, versus individual therapies that have result been successful in other cases.

Olatz Ormaechea, for her part, said it was important to "take care of oneself to be able to take care of others", while Machiniena emphasized taking care of "two basic fundamental needs such as food and adequate sleep". In addition, he expressed the need to learn to balance one's daily responsibilities with those that "we want to do".

"One of the common aspects of the profession of educators and psychologists is that we deal directly with people," said the fourth-year student of Degree in Psychology, Xavier Rodriguez. Therefore, it is as important to "have the knowledge, how to use the technique, as to know how to integrate it in the day to day with others". Along the same lines, Leyre Abad, her classmate in the final year of the Degree in Teaching, affirmed that this care of the person includes institutional and social agents, as well as specific people who give or receive it. Finally, the student and future psychologist Camila Velasquez, approached the topic from the relationship between the business and the worker; and recalled the psychological pact that is also established between employee and employer, -that the latter feels motivated, that he/she identifies himself/herself in the business, among other aspects.

Students, teachers and employees continued this celebration with a 'Talent Show' and the semifinal of the Voice of your School contest. In the afternoon, students participated in an escape room based on Howard Gardner's multiple intelligences, and later took part in a gymkhana and sports activities organized by students.
