Carmen San Martín, first Director of programs of study of the University's Economics School , passes away.

San Martín promoted from the beginning the School of Economics.

Carmen San Martín (Pamplona, 1944), the first director of programs of study of the School of Economics at the University of Navarra, has passed away in Pamplona. Graduated in Economics from the Complutense University in 1967, she worked as director of department of Statistics at business Orbaiceta S.A. until 1969.

In March 1972, she began her activity professor at the University of Navarra, where she taught the subjects of Economics Politics and Public Finance in the School of Law, she was professor of the Biostatistics Course of the School of Medicine, Introduction to the Economics in Information Sciences and Mathematics in the School of Sciences.

In 1985 he defended his thesis at the Complutense University on the "Economic Impact of a university in its local environment", directed by Professor Javier Irastorza. The research, which had a high scope, studied the impact of the University of Navarra on the Economics of the foral territory, a work that continued with other Spanish universities and their respective environments.

In 1987 she joined the School of Economics as Professor of Statistics, where she was appointed Director of programs of study until 2004. San Martín promoted the beginnings of School where she was also professor and researcher for 23 years, until her retirement in 2010.

She gave herself body and soul to this project educational , without sparing a single effort", emphasizes Ignacio Ferrero, Dean of the School of Economics. "The School thanks him for his submission, affection, dedication and humility to know how to be a hidden and solid pillar on which this great project, which is already a consolidated reality, is supported", emphasizes Ferrero.
