Fabrizio Pierandrei, Italian, architect, partner of www.pierandreiassociati and founder and director of PACO Collaborative, visited the School of Architecture University of Navarra as visiting professor last January. During his stay, he led the fifth project of the course with the first year students of Degree at design. "The topic of this course has been material and texture, giving a approach on how to change the railing from the point of view of tactile sensation," comments Fabrizio.

The core topic of the success of a project of design for Fabrizio Pierandrei is in the study of the whys, "why that material and why in the railing", and in materializing each idea with a prototype "not only to make a prototype as a model of the final product but to reiterate the process, make many prototypes and see many ideas and focus the final solution not as a linear path but as a path of many solutions that can ultimately lead to the one that is ideal".

teaching by Projects

One of the characteristics of the Degree in design of the University of Navarra, in addition to its international approach and the relationship with the world of business, is the teaching by projects directed by professionals. In the first semester of the course, the first year students worked on four projects: "Typography" with Octavio Pardo, graphic designer; "Light and color: Car camouflage", with the painter Alejandro Häsler; "Scale" with the architect Manolis Stavrakakis and "Patterns", with the designer Miriam Ocáriz.
