The classroom Luka Brajnovic of the School of Communication of the University of Navarra has hosted, within the framework of Pasarela 948, the talk "Fashion in women", with the voices of Modesto Lomba, president of the association of Creators of Fashion of Spain (ACME), Hannibal Laguna, designer and member of ACME and Rafael Muñoz, publisher fashion rtve.es and journalist specializing in fashion. The talk was moderated by Roberto Cámara, Navarra Televisión's live TV presenter. Around 100 people accompanied the designers and moderator in an event that lasted more than an hour.

Within the discussion, began by analyzing the current reality of women in fashion and, by extension, in society to which Hannibal Laguna explained that fashion today is "a response of women to themselves. When I started there was a struggle for freedom of choice and I think today we are reaching that point of ability to choose that did not exist before".

This was corroborated by Rafael Muñoz, who confirmed that "this year women are no longer the stars of the red carpet because of their clothes, but because of their work, their creations, their degree program and their abilities. Agatha Ruiz de la Prada, Naomi Campbell, Teresa Helvig.... All of them have been awarded this year for using fashion as a vehicle of expression and for helping others to be freer."

Modesto Lomba also joined this voice, but with nuances: "We are here to accompany them. Women are constantly growing and we can only be at their side. It is not a question of who leads fashion, but what is the result and to ensure that designers and designers are partners in this change. And for men to get involved in helping women to lead this change".

A commitment to consume wisely In addition, another focus of the talk was on the fashion sustainabilityThe industry has been found to be the second most polluting on the planet and, as Lomba argues, "has to change because we have to look more for the consumption of design and less for fashion. The design gives you sustainability, durability and combats the depletion that can generate fashion". In fact," explained Muñoz, "what Modesto says is something that is seen on the catwalks, advocated by Vivianne Westwood or Stella McCartney. Now people are betting on consuming wisely. It's not normal to buy clothes for 3.95. The trend is to spend a little more but make it last longer". An idea supported by Laguna, who added: "We must have access to the democratization of quality. And access to know what things really cost. A perfume is not worth 80 euros. And a pair of jeans is not worth 1.99. We have to know this and be aware of how we consume".
