The Chair Madera, fruit of the partnership between the University of Navarra and the Government of Navarra, organized a visit to various constructions made of wood. The activity was attended by a group of students of the School of Architecture, guided by the director of the Chair, José Manuel Cabrero.

First, they visited the facilities of Construcciones Leache, where they observed the offices, made of laminated wood. They also received an explanation of the modular wood construction system developed by signature , which has obtained the CENER plus seal. By way of illustration, they saw a house in Aoiz built with this system.

Later, group went to Tajonar to analyze a single-family house that is being built with cross-laminated timber panels. He was accompanied by Diego Núñez, from Madergia, and the architect Alfonso Gazziano, author of project.

Thus, the students learned about two different ways of tackling the same construction problem with systems based on wood panels: one with lightweight framing and the other with solid panels.

The activity is part of seminar 'Construction in Wood', which takes place on Saturday mornings from January 21 to March 31. The theoretical sessions -at position by six experts from various institutions and academic centers in Navarra, Galicia and Madrid- are complemented by four visits: to a forest biomass facility, a sawmill, various works built in wood and a forest. On the other hand, the students will present the work carried out during the course in the Señorío de Bértiz Natural Park (Navarra) on April 28.
