During the second session of the lecture series 'My experience managing people', aimed at students of the Master's Degree in Personnel Management Service in Organizations and open to all students of Degree, the director Human Resources of group Cofares, Javier Vicente, identifies the challenges of managing an intergenerational team.

Vicente asserts that organizations are moving from traditional functional models to flexible and interconnected teams. The human resources executive believes that individualism, bureaucracy and loyalty factors are mutating into values such as work in teams, close relationships between managers and employees, and commitment in exchange for benefits.

In the same vein, the HR director assures that the skills gap between generations will continue to grow and believes that Millennials value sharing experiences above all else, as opposed to their predecessors who preferred the individual work .

Regarding training, he says that this is an incentive for any talented worker. Specialized courses in a area that is of interest to the employee and at the same time serves the business are, according to Vicente, a way to ensure the loyalty of those who work in the company.

Javier Vicente holds a PhD in Law from the Universidad Rey Juan Carlos and graduate in Law and Political Science from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. He is also President of the International Organization of Human Capital Managers (DCH), with more than 800 associates. And board member of the Advisory Committee for the assessment of teachings and institutions of National Agency for Assessment of Quality and Accreditation.
