"There is nothing better than, being the director of human resources, to get the team members, the collaborators, to work as your partners", said the lawyer and expert in human resources, Diego Charola, during the third session of the cycle 'My experience managing people' of the School of Economics.

Charola argues that the value of the human resources function makes sense when the strategy of business is internally owned by the whole team, when commitment is achieved and, therefore, the team is made to see the value that its work has for the whole company.

The executive believes that the role of the human resources department is evolving: from managing people to managing talent; and from managing talent to social partnership : today the business and the team demand participation. Charola assures that digital transformation democratizes information.

It also evolves, he continues, the way of managing: it is managed by telling the business to the team; communicating and providing all the data with transparency. In this sense, Charola names some of the tools that can be used: such as strategic charts or activity reports.

If human resources is able to demonstrate with numbers to management what it contributes to the bottom line, human resources begins to be core topic; they begin to listen to you. That is why it is essential, says Charola, that the entire human resources team knows the business well; that they "walk the talk".

Diego Charola is graduate in law from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid and Master's Degree in Human Resources from the Centro de programs of study Financieros (CEF). He has more than fifteen years of experience as Director of Human Resources at group Cortefiel.
