Students from the School have recently participated in a congress on the impact of the climate society on family planning. They are Jaime Sanciñena, Valentina Caro, Alberto Prada, María Cámara, Gabriel Pérez and María Garnacho, all of them 3rd year Governance students. They were six of the thirty-four students from six countries who took part in the congress "The impact of climate anxiety in family formation in Europe" held in Brussels.

With participants from Poland, Hungary or France they were able to present their ideas to the European Parliament and the recommendations were shared at a UN Social development commission in New York a few days ago. "It has been a great opportunity to show the values of the University and make our voices heard in a high-level political context," says Jaime.

Access to resources, development human and accurate information

Her research concluded that there are deeper reasons beyond climate change that explain the birth rate crisis in our society. "For young people to be able to start a family," Valentina points out, "they need to have access to resources such as a health system, Education quality and basic services. In this way, with solid families and strong relationships we can work together with public and private entities to fight against climate change".

They also stressed the importance of recognizing the importance of the human development as opposed to the economic so that "creating a family is seen as an essential vital project and not a sacrifice". And, thirdly, they stressed the importance of "seeking truthful information from reliable sources and using social networks as a community of support instead of a source of disinformation and disillusionment".
