"The current digital transformation forces us to pay more attention to ethical issues than to technological ones". This was stated by the director of Human Resources and Organization of Unidad publishing house, Tomás Pereda Riaza, during the ninth session of the cycle 'My experience managing people' of the School of Economics.

Pereda believes that the future of human resources managers will lie in knowing how to take advantage of technological transformation and knowing how to link this transformation to the humanistic training , ethics and values; with the commitment to support the development of people.

The Director of Human Resources and Organization of Unidad publishing house congratulated the students for taking this program because, in his opinion, you have to "be business people" in order to be good people managers. Along the same lines, Pereda said that the human resources function has tended to be inbred for a long time, but he assured that "this does not make sense because human resources add value to the business".

Tomás Pereda Riaza is graduate in Law from the Complutense University of Madrid. From 1995 to 1997 he was the HR Director of Ikea Spain. From 1997 to 2001 he was director HR and Legal Affairs at DuPont Pharma. In 2001 he joined group Leche Pascual as Director General Corporate HR. Since October 2005 he held the position of HR Director at Hertz de España together with the EMEA HR Directorate at Hertz Energy Services. Finally, in January 2012, he joined Unidad publishing house as Director Human Resources and Organization, a responsibility he has held until now.
