The students of the Degree in Design of the School of Architecture slid their fingers over the paint in the light and color workshop given by the painter Alejandro Häsler. Earth-colored pigment on a crystal. "The mission statement of art should be to illuminatenot dazzle, to awaken the viewer's inner light", stated Häsler while showing the color transformation with a gradient.

47 students leaned over the mixture as the painter unveiled the technique, then dripped oil onto the pigment. "It is very important to stop and observe," Häsler warned. A good teacher must learn to listen to the students one by one, because they are the ones who have the core topic".

The painter worked in the workshops before his lecture on the importance of light and color in the 20th century, where he noted that "the art of painting has been impoverished over the last decades in a fundamental aspect: color."

"Painting is a kind of music of colors. -Häsler, who approached the study of light in painting from the history of art and his own experience, pointed out. In my works attention of harmonizing the atmosphere, color, line and composition, aspects that give solidity to the painting.

In addition, he stressed that art should not die in itself, since it has a communication aspect very important: "For the great poet, light suffers, for the brilliant architect, light is spent by becoming subject".

Alejandro Häsler explained that to discover the light in his paintings he places the canvas in a dimly lit room, on the floor. This is how he works before moving the painting to the studio to continue it. A process that allows him to discover the interior and exterior light of the work: "If there is only exterior light, the work will never be complete".
