Solidarity messages hanging from the ceiling, gourmet food stalls, more than a hundred people, smiles from side to side... The School of Communication was dressed up last Thursday, February 17, to enjoy a great solidarity snack-dinner. The international students of the University, through the committee International, organized this event, which raised funds for the project housing rehabilitation that Tantaka has in the School of Architecture. The 'Random Acts of Kindness' gala brought together five restaurants from the Reyno de Navarra Gastronomic association (Alhambra, Enekorri, Castillo de Gorraiz, Beti Jai and Maher), which offered the attendees their best creations. For five euros, students and professionals from the University were able to taste two gourmet pintxos. Of that money, three euros went to pay the restaurants; and the remaining two will be used to finance part of the materials needed for the rehabilitation of the houses, in whose project students of committee International are collaborating with students of Architecture.

"All it takes is a smile to brighten the day of people who need us."

"We really wanted to put on an event like this," said Nicole Mayes, the coordinator of the international students who pushed this project through Tantaka. "Many times, to people who need us, a smile is enough to brighten their day. That's why we have put messages of happiness and encouragement everywhere," Nicole explained. "At committee International we have people from all over the world, from France to Cuba; and it is a privilege that they are so aware of helping those in need," she commented. In addition, Nicole Mayes stressed that "people are very involved and eager to help in any way they can".

The different 'pintxos' stands were set up in the hall of the School. In one of them, we met Alexandra Vidal, vice-president of committee International, who told us her experience of volunteer activities: "Since I started the University, I started to help in committee as a collaborator, moving events and working in the different activities".
