School students become parliamentarians for a day

The School of Education and Psychology present in the Parliament of Navarra.

The first year students of the Degrees in Education Infant, Education Primary and Pedagogy of the School of Education and Psychology of the University of Navarra, have put themselves in the shoes of a parliamentarian, as a internship within their subject Theory of the Education. The students have debated in the Parliament of Navarra, under the degree scroll: "We live in democracy" in which they have reflected on the meaning of democracy, the civic participation of society and the impact that university students have for the promotion of citizenship.

The dean of the School, Concepción Naval, opened the workshop reflecting on the goal of this activity: "From the subject we study the social dimension of the Education. With this workshop we want to bring the parliamentary institution closer to the citizens and promote democratic values. This discussion intends to be a framework of reflection to encourage social participation".

The students, who were divided into nine commissions, presented their reflections and conclusions through their representatives. In addition, the also professors of the School, Elena Arbués and Arantza Albertos have participated in the activity making a balance on what has been exposed by the students.

On the other hand, the parliamentarians Carlos García Adanero and Begoña Ganuza from UPN; Koldo Martínez from Geroa Bai; Miren Aranoa, from EH Bildu; Conchi Ruiz, from PSN and Javier García, from PPN; have attended the activity and have had the opportunity to contribute with their conclusions and to answer some questions from the students.
