programs of study from 7 countries participate in the V Biennial of Latin American Architecture of the University

The meeting will take place from April 25 to 28 in Pamplona.

The V Biennial of Latin American Architecture (BAL 2017) of the University of Navarra will take place from April 25 to 28. The events will take place both at the academic center and at the Palacio del Condestable in Pamplona, although it will have extensions in Madrid and Barcelona.

The BAL was born in 2008 as an initiative of the group of research AS20 of the University of Navarra. School of Architecture of the University of Navarra with the purpose to know and show the most recent and outstanding examples of the new Latin American architecture and to strengthen ties on both sides of the ocean.

The teams selected this year are: Taller EDU (Colombia), Colectivo 720 (Colombia), Daniel Moreno (Ecuador), AToT Arquitectos (Argentina), BLTARQ Arquitectos (Argentina), Abraham Cota (Mexico), CC Arquitectos (Mexico), Antonio Carrasco (Argentina), Adamo-Faiden (Argentina), Torrado (Argentina), SIAA Arquitectos (Brazil), Rizoma (Brazil), Llama Arquitectos (Peru), Beals-Lyon Arquitectos (Chile) and Soffia Arquitectos (Chile).

New: citizen headquarters

As a novelty in this V Edition, the "Intercambiador Cultural" has been created as the BAL's civic headquarters, which will host cultural events of various kinds, inviting citizens to participate actively through activities. Among them, a Latin American film series, concerts, literature samples by country, a construction workshop for families or a photography sample among others.

Speakers at this edition include Colombian Carlos Mario Rodriguez, architect and urban planner in the public and private spheres, who will speak on "The Urban Transformation of Medellin"; Jose Ramon Moreno, for many years manager of Architecture and Housing at board of Andalusia; and Cuban architect Heriberto Duverger, author of urban plans and researcher of Havana's modern history, mainly in the recovery of the JCN Forestier.

Also present will be Colombian architect Diego Aguilera Bohórquez, founder of SCANY, "Colombian Society of Architects of New York" & of the PAD "Colombian Diaspora Architecture Awards, Inc. His projects, articles and proposals have received awards and publications in several countries.

The Biennial of Latin American Architecture has the support of sponsorship of the University of Navarra, the Ministry of Public Works, the Pamplona City Council, the Commonwealth of the Pamplona Region and the Delegation in Navarra of high school of Basque-Navarre Architects.
