Experts from the Chair Madera, a joint initiative of the Government of Navarra and the University of Navarra, participated in the 6th Spanish Forestry congress , which took place from June 10 to 14, 2013 in Vitoria-Gasteiz under the degree scroll 'Montes: servicios y development rural'.

On the one hand, Borja Iraola, PhD student of department of Structures of School of Architecture, with director of Chair, José Manuel Cabrero, presented the contribution 'Parametric study on different methods of calculating the tensile strength in the direction perpendicular to the fiber (splitting) in wood joints'.

Likewise, Professor Cabrero; Fermín Olabe, director of management Forestal del Gobierno de Navarra; and the professor of Structures RufinoGoñi gave another intervention, entitled 'New proposals for the use of beech wood'.

At the congress, organized by the Spanish Society of Forestry Sciences, the most recent research results and experiences in forestry sciences and techniques were shared. Conferences, round tables, parallel events and exhibitions were held to devise proposals for the improvement of forestry management in Spain.
