Jealousy in couples, its destructive capacity and its therapeutic approach, in a lecture at the University of Navarra.

"Jealousy in the couple: a destructive emotion" will be the degree scroll of the lecture that the Full Professor of clinical psychology of the University of the Basque Country, Enrique Echeburúa, will give next Tuesday, April 25, at the University of Navarra. The discussion paper will take place at 1 p.m. in the School of Communication.

In it, the founding member of high school Basque Criminology will talk about the profiles and signs of jealous people, the difference between jealousy in men and women and its manifestations, the personality factors that predispose to jealousy or the characteristics of pathological jealousy and the mental disorders most involved in them, such as obsessive disorder, alcoholism and delusional disorder. Echeburúa will also present the responses that can be given to the different types of jealousy from a therapeutic perspective.

Enrique Echeburúa Odriozola (San Sebastián, 1951) is Full Professor of Clinical Psychology at the School of Psychology of the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU) and researcher senior of the Biomedical Research Center at network of Mental Health. He has been a member since its constitution of committee advisor of the Queen Sofia Center for the Study of Violence and has been president of the Basque Society of Victimology.

He is the author of 32 books (among them, Violent personalities, 1994; guide of family violence, 1998; Jealousy in the couple, 2001; Alcohol abuse, 2001; Living without violence, 2002; Overcoming trauma, 2004; guide of victimology, 2006; Predicting the risk of homicide and serious violence in the couple relationship, 2009; Why victim is female and aggressor male, 2010), some of them translated into other languages, and of more than 390 papers in books and scientific journals.

His current lines of research focus on family violence, sexual assault and pathological gambling, as well as severe mental disorders and forensic clinical psychology.

The attendance at lecture is free and open to the media.
