The project 'Innovactoras', an initiative that seeks to highlight women entrepreneurs and innovators, brought together six leading women of the 21st century in Madrid. This workshop about women and innovation was organized by the high school business and Humanism of the University of Navarra and the consulting firm Happeninn Innovación, promoter of Innovactoras.

Of the 50 women innovators who are part of this project, six presented their trajectories and achievements in different areas: Melania Ottaviano, from the Universidad siglo21, and Esther Lecumberrifrom Lachicadelaslanas, in the field of educational; Teresa Tarragóof Iproteos, and Nerea Martínezof Espiciencia, in the scientific field; and Leticia Asumu y Alena Emilova), in the field of global skill .

The event was attended by Beatriz Becerra, MEP and vice-president of the European Parliament's Human Rights sub-committee, who said that when it comes to innovation and entrepreneurship "women do not start on equal terms". In this regard, she stressed the need to publicize innovation projects undertaken by women: "It is essential to disseminate and tell the stories of women who take the step, to know the problems they faced and even the mistakes they made".

Likewise, Becerra recalled the importance of generating more spaces such as project Innovactoras, which allow us to get to know those women who have taken the first big step, as well as the obstacles they have faced along the way and the mistakes they have made, in order to turn them into learning source .

"There have always been wise women, excellent in their professional field; however, there have been more vocations that have fallen by the wayside," said the MEP. In her opinion, the lack of parity in the innovation sector will only be remedied when equal opportunities cease to be a struggle and become a permanent part of society.

award to the Junior Innovator

Innovactoras is a social project that sample reference women who seek to build a better world, through their work, in different areas: science, technology, business, Education and society. Its goal is to give the relevance that for decades has been denied to strong, capable, enterprising and innovative women and turn them into examples for new generations.

The Dean of the School of Economics and Business Administration of the University of Navarra, Ignacio Ferrero, said that 'Innovactoras' is a living example of effort, entrepreneurship and success. "The great work of these innovative women has demonstrated with facts the potential and the benefit of women's participation in society," he said. She also recalled that it is up to all of us to reduce the inequality gap that persists in today's society.

The event, which counted with the partnership of the Fabre Foundation, the European Enterprise Network, the association of Navarra for Innovation and Culture, the Renta4 Foundation, and the Chair business and Humanism of the University of Valencia, ended with the submission of the award to the Junior Innovator 2018 to Constanza Rosell, student of design of the University of Navarra. This entrepreneur began her journey in innovation with a small business selling cookies "Crookies" and her own brand of T-shirts "Nemz", which allowed her to finance part of her training.
