The School of Medicine of the University of Navarra celebrated the graduation ceremony of its LIX promotion with the 201 students who this academic year 2017-2018 say goodbye to the academic center. The event brought together friends, family and professors who wanted to be close to the future doctors in a very special workshop .

Precisely, it was Dr. Javier Salvador, Professor of Endocrinology and sponsor of the class, who had the opportunity to address a few words to the attendees. In his speech, he congratulated the new graduates and encouraged them to continue their professional career with enthusiasm and loyalty.

"With each of you travels the banner of the University of Navarra, of freedom, of knowledge, of respect, of solidarity, of eagerness to discover and of professionalism. Fly it with pride and share it with others to contribute to science, to humanity and to the common good".

He also enumerated some virtues that will make them good professionals, such as being honest, close, honest and willing. "Enjoy your mission statement, do not fall into discouragement, there will be temptations to do so, but only he who resists reaches his goal. There is nothing that is valuable and does not cost effort".

work in team and life staff

Dr. Salvador, who also directs the department of Endocrinology and Nutrition at the Clínica Universidad de Navarra, emphasized the value of the team. "Banish egocentrism and arrogance in favor of the collective work , as if it were a sports team where everyone shares the responsibility for success or failure. Feel important in that whole and fly towards excellence among all".

Finally, he reminded them: "do not forget that you are persons and as such you must at the same time attend to your life staff. Family, friends, your own development staff , which go beyond the professional aspects, require balance". Because "happiness in life staff is contagious to the positive attitude in work".

Six years full of "Medicine

For their part, the delegate and sub-delegate, Sandra Rubio and Marta Fortuny, respectively, also participated with a speech in which they reviewed the last six years. Among laughter and emotional thanks, there was one to the University of Navarra, highlighting its work "for teaching us values that go far beyond books. Thank you for helping us to understand that the study of Medicine is not based on diseases, but on patients(...) The principles that you have transmitted to us will not change".

The students asked their classmates to remember everything they experienced and to realize that it is part of their college experience. "Remember that patient who grabbed your hand while you were being treated; or that first time the doctor told you "Now you wash yourself"; or that cry of the end of the world for touching the green zone at operating room. Remember also that first medical history and that patient who told you all the latest gossip about his neighborhood. They do not appear in any chapter of the Harrison, but they were teaching us Medicine".

"To all of you I say, and especially to you fellows, be proud; and think about who you are making proud. After these six years, after having learned much more than just medicine. After having grown from the hand of very diverse people and having always been accompanied. Now we have to continue on our way, surrounded by people who bring out the best in us. It is time to bet on new goals and to trust. "Dream and you will fall short"".
