The Full Professor Miguel Angel Alonso del Val, new director of the School of Architecture
Ana Sánchez-Ostiz and Maite Gil have also been appointed deputy directors of the School.
The President of the University of Navarra, Alfonso Sánchez-Tabernero, has appointed Miguel Ángel Alonso del Val, Full Professor Projects, as the new director of the School of Architecture of the University of Navarra. Professor Alonso del Val replaces José Ángel Medina, who had held the position since 2012. In addition, Ana Sánchez-Ostiz and Maite Gil have been appointed deputy directors of the School.
Miguel Ángel Alonso del Val (Cardeñadijo, Burgos, 1956) holds a doctorate in architecture with award extraordinary from the University of Navarra, scholarship recipient Fulbright and Master Sc. in Architecture & Building Design from Columbia University. He has been award Luis Barragán and Visiting Professor at numerous European and American universities.
Associated with Rufino J. Hernández, he founded and directs the "ah asociados" studio, with offices in Pamplona, Qatar and Panama, with which he has won 70 first prizes in national and international competitions. Author of more than 240 publications in books and specialized magazines, his recent work has been collected in a monograph and disseminated in exhibitions such as the Venice Biennale and in various international publications.
She was board member of the committee Navarre of Culture (1991 and 2003) and award to the Innovation of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Navarre (2007). She is currently board member of the board of trustees of the Foundation business-University of Navarra and, also, member of the Social and Business Forum of the Social committee of the UPNA.
New deputy directorsThe new deputy director Ana Sánchez-Ostiz (Pamplona, 1961) directs the Master's Degree in design and management Environmental Buildings (MDGAE). position Until now she also held the position of director of the department of Constructions, Installations and Structures of the School. She has extensive research experience, is the author of three books, co-author of 13 others, as well as 15 articles in national and international journals, and 29 other publications. She has participated in 23 national and European projects, in 15 as principal investigator. As a partner in the Estudio de Arquitectura with Purificación González, she has carried out 46 new construction projects and 64 rehabilitation projects, including the Casa del Vínculo in Puente la Reina (Navarra) and the Expansion of the Padre Menni Clinic in Pamplona.
Maite Gil Sorribes (Valencia, 1982) holds a degree in architecture from School of Architecture of the University of Navarra. She has worked at ACXT-IDOM Valencia where she developed projects such as the Valencia Joaquín Sorolla Ave station and the project urbanization of the Castellón tramway. In 2011 she joined as coordinator of programs of study of the School of Architecture, position which she has held until today.
