Obra Social "la Caixa" has decided to help with a contribution of 918 euros the project "Urban camp for refugee children" of the University of Navarra, which has been promoted by the University Association for the Middle East (AUNOM) and the Bank of Solidarity Time -Tantaka- of the academic center. The amount will be used to promote, through urban camps, the integration of twelve refugee children living in Navarra.

The initiative came from Santiago Martínez, coordinator of AUNOM and professor at the University. Shortly before the end of the academic year, he thought about how the summer months without high school could affect these children and saw the "HI ARTIST!" urban camps at the University of Navarra Museum as a good opportunity to promote their inclusion through activities with children of the same age.

Tantaka, the Solidarity Time Bank of the University of Navarra, has thanked Obra Social "la Caixa" for its support in the process of normalizing the stay in Pamplona of twelve children of refugees. "A financial aid that once again highlights the value of Navarre's hospitality," said the coordinator of Tantaka, Sofía Collantes.

Among the activities carried out by AUNOM volunteers, there are also the 'family plans', where some Navarre couples with children enjoy the weekend together with refugee families from different origins and currently living in the region.

The Agrupación Universitaria por Oriente Medio (AUNOM) is formed by group of students and professors of the University of Navarra, from different Degrees and international origin, interested in the events occurring in the Middle East and the Islamic world and its links with the West. It is coordinated by Santiago Martínez, professor at department of History, Art History and Geography.
