Comunicado de la Facultad de Medicina con motivo de la propuesta de modificación de su título de grado
statement of the School of Medicine on the occasion of the proposal of modification of its degree scroll of Degree
On the occasion of the proposal of the Statecommittee of Medical Students (CEEM) and of the lecture National of Deans of Medicine -presented before the Director General of University Policy on October 16, 2009-, the Student Representation and the board Directive of the School of Medicine of the University of Navarra adhere to this application, in representation of their students and professors.
This proposal states the need to modify the legislation so that it explicitly states that the degree scroll of Medicine has the competences of Master's Degree. This proposal seems fair given that the programs of study of Medicine involves 6 years (360 credits ECTS credit), and then the graduate must complete a specialization program of 4 or 5 years duration. At the end of this period, according to the current legislation, their degree program will be Degree, while other professionals, with 5 years (300 ECTS credit) will have the degree scroll of Master's Degree.
Maintaining the current status would be a disadvantage for future physicians, with negative repercussions on their degree program. Likewise, this proposal is not detrimental to other professional groups.
